Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us“
My heart sank when I heard the news about the Boston Marathon yesterday. As a fellow runner, I can imagine what each of those runners were feeling as they neared the finish line; accomplished, exhausted, relieved. Nothing could have prepared them for what was about to take place. I am not going to dwell on the details because the media has replayed images and quotes all night. In this time of uncertainty, it is important we remain united. Not only as runners, but more importantly as Americans. I read a post last night that everyone is wearing purple today in honor of the runners and someone else posted that they are pledging to run miles today in their honor. The best thing we can do is pray. Pray for our nation and our leaders. Pray for wisdom for the investigators to find the perpetrators. Pray for healing and strength for the injured and pray for peace for those who lost loved ones.
We are a resilient people. We will run the race and we will prevail!
